Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 Teams and Format
The
International Cricket Council has announced the 10 teams for the T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia. Next year's tournament will bring together 16 teams to play
the main competition in two parts group stage and Super-12. The Complete T20 World Cup 2020
Schedule will be announced later
with qualified teams.
The
top eight qualified teams in the competition participated directly in the
super-12 while Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have two sides to play in the group
stage with six teams in the qualifying tournament.
In
the ICC T20I rankings Pakistan topped the rankings and qualified for the
tournament of the top 20 nations with nine other countries, including
Australia, the host. India, England, South Africa, the West Indies, New
Zealand and Afghanistan are the other countries qualified for the T20 World
Cup 2020.
The
Sri Lankan captain of the T20, Lasith Malinga, was disappointed by the failure
of the team that failed to qualify directly for the super-12, but he is
confident that this team would get good performances in the championship.
"It's a bit disappointing not to have been able to guarantee a direct
place in Super 12, but I'm confident we'll do well in the tournament".
