Jasprit Bumrah Sensational Spell 5 for 7
While
the cricket world was busy talking about Ben Stokes' exploits in the Ashes. The
Indian spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, managed to divert everyone's attention to
another test underway in Antigua. The right-hand coach made a sensational
effort to propel India to a massive 318-point victory in his first match in the
ICC World Trials Championship.
Jasprit
Bumrah was unplayable for West India players on Sunday. He finished with
impressive numbers of 5 for only 7 runs in 8 overs. After setting the West
Indies an unlikely goal of 419 for victory on the fourth day, India
congratulated the hosts of the match at 100 to record their biggest away win in
terms of points.
Bumrah
shook the upper order, attacking the stumps relentlessly in a devastating
spell. He made his first breakthrough when Kraigg Brathwaite opened the scoring
for the primary goal. A few minutes later, the West Indies lost five points for
just 15 minutes. Bumrah received excellent support from senior teammate Ishant
Sharma, who finished with 3 points out of 31.
The
West Indies were boiling at 50 for nine before the last wicket of 50 between
Miguel Cummins and Kemar Roach gave some respectability in total. Roach made
three-on-one against turkey-Sadr went Ravindra Jadeja and scored the West
Indies' first goal with 38.
"I
feel terrific, " said Jasprit Bumrah.
"My
delivery takes a lot of work. I used to play against the winger a little
earlier, but the more Test matches I played, the more I could trust my
opponent," he added.
Earlier,
Ajinkya Rahane scored 102 years, while Hanuma Vihari added 93 before Indian
captain Virat Kohli was 347 out of 7. That day belonged to Bumrah and,
unsurprisingly, he was the star of the city. Fans and others were gaga after
him after his devastating spell as they headed to Twitter to congratulate him.
