It's Ben Stokes World, and We Are Just Living in it
Benjamin
Andrew Stokes scored a swag against Australia with an unbeaten 135-point strike
to lead England to a famous win at Headingley. He shared 76 runs for the tenth
wicket with Jack Leach. Stokes was the "man" of the partnership,
Leach having contributed only one shot, while Stokes took charge of lifting
heavy objects.
Before
the start of the day, England had their task on hold as they needed 203 points
to win the Test. With the way, Joe Root and Joe Denly exulted confidently on day
three, the Three Lions were confident they could do the job but, apart from Ben
Stokes, none of the England batsmen promised to finish the job.
For
the second time in two months, Stokes won the defeat for England. Twitterati
admired by the versatile player and praised him for his achievements. Here
below we have some of the best tweets about Stokes' sleeves -
Jonny
Bairstow showed his intention to finish the job with a 36-of-69 inning, but
Josh Hazlewood caught him. The confusion between Stokes and Jos Buttler saw
Stokes loses his wicket.
Chris
Woakes had to deliver, but he also couldn't withstand the pressure and managed
only one solo race. After
crossing three boundaries, Jofra Archer did not pass the fence and caught on
the edge of Nathan Lyon. A Stuart Broad wicket almost ended England's innings. Stokes
needed only Leach to survive at the other end. The versatile player propelled
England to the all-winners and kept the series alive.
